About Laure Ferlita

“Watercolor, for me, is the perfect sketching medium.” Laure says. “It provides ease of use, quick color saturation, and clean up is
a snap and really, you don’t need much equipment.”

Come join me, Laure Ferlita, on
“An Imaginary Trip
To England!”
Once again, traveling a “different” road, we will work our way around England and explore early blossoms of apples, pear, daffodils, and tulips; quaint cottages and out of the way nooks! So many wonderful places to visit and sketch: cathedrals, castles, and crumbled ruins; beautiful thickets, fens, and forests, oh, and what about stone circles - there’s just so much to sketch and only 6 weeks to capture all the beauty in our sketchbooks!
We’ll create our own unique story using all of our senses, rather than just our eyes. Our sketches will tell stories full of those special details that will help this to be a very special vacation you’ll talk about for years to come!
On this fun-filled imaginary holiday, you’ll learn how to:
•simplify complex scenes
•eliminate unnecessary details
• capture the essence of a scene in a limited amount of time
•test art supplies to find out what works best for you on location
•and best of all, you’ll “come home” with an extraordinary sketchbook full of all the wonderful places we will visit!
The class will be structured around 2 timed assignments each week. You have total flexibility as to whether you complete one or all of the assignments, based on your time constraints and life obligations.
Assignments are spread out over each week and vary from 1 to 3 hours in length. Video demos are provided for 8 of the assignments so that you can “see” the techniques used. Video demos are available for the duration of the class and you can watch them as many times as you wish. Some assignments will utilize Google Street Views.
Creative writing prompts are provided to help you "imagine” what each day of our trip will be like so that you can capture those details in your sketchbook.
Gentle critiques will be given in a secure environment with feedback provided by other “travelers” as well. Everyone will have email access for any questions or challenges that come up during the “trip.”
Students who enroll in this class should have the following:
Art Skills
Solid drawing skills including an understanding of shapes, shading,
