ALL NEW!
Come and play in the garden with Laure Ferlita on
“An Imaginary Visit
To A Japanese Garden!”
Whether you stroll through a Japanese Garden for contemplation, meditation or just to enjoy the aesthetic beauty of the setting, there is much that is worthy of our sketchbook! From a simple lotus bloom to the gentle splashing of a waterfall, the Japanese Garden will lift your spirits and soothe the ruffled edges of your life as you slow down to capture the visit on your pages!
We’ll meander all through the garden sketching flowers, koi and stone lanterns. We’ll be looking at texture, color temperature, and on truly “seeing” the garden’s gifts. “Visitors” will have the flexibility to add in their own treasures from the garden to make this glorious “visit” uniquely their own! We’ll learn how to:
-
• capture color, detail and texture convincingly
-
• create an intimate (macro) view of the garden’s beauty
-
• simplify a scene down to its essence
-
• eliminate unnecessary detail
Our focus will be a mix of intimate (macro) images as well as larger scenes, giving time and attention to recreating our “emotional connections” with nature. Our visit to the garden will last 4 weeks with 1 assignment each week.
Video demos are provided for all of the assignments so that you can “see” the techniques used. You have total flexibility as to when you watch the videos once they are posted. The demos are available for the duration of the class and you can watch them as many times as you wish. You can even use the pause button to paint along side of Laure!
Individual (and gentle) critiques for each piece of work posted are given by Laure to help each artist grow. The critiques are provided in a secure environment along with feedback from other “travelers” in the class. Everyone will have email access for any questions or challenges that come up during the “trip.”
