About Laure Ferlita

“Watercolor, for me, is the perfect sketching medium.” Laure says. “It provides ease of use, quick color saturation, and clean up is
a snap and really, you don’t need much equipment.”

Come join me, Laure Ferlita, on
“An Imaginary Trip to Paris!”
Taking the road less traveled to explore the City of Light, we will capture an enchanted view of Paris through sketching and painting, a view not seen on the usual tours. We’ll linger over breakfast in out-of-the-way cafes, visit beautiful parks, enjoy a café au lait in the late afternoon as we watch the golden red leaves drift to the sidewalk, glance into quiet courtyards, and observe the beauty that the French infuse into the simplest and most mundane structures of everyday life.
We’ll create our own story using all of our senses, rather than just our eyes. Our stories will be full of those special details that will help this be the vacation to remember long after it’s over! On this fun-filled imaginary holiday, you’ll learn how to:
•simplify complex scenes
•eliminate unnecessary details
• capture the essence of a scene in a limited amount of time
•test art supplies to find out what works best for you on location
•and best of all, you’ll “come home” with an extraordinary sketchbook full of all the wonderful places we will visit!
The class is structured around 2 timed assignments each week. You have total flexibility as to whether you complete one or all of the assignments, based on your time constraints and life obligations.
Assignments are spread out over each week and vary from 1 to 3 hours in length. Video demos are provided for 8 of the assignments so that you can “see” the techniques used. Video demos are available for the duration of the class and you can watch them as many times as you wish. Some assignments will utilize Google Street Views.
Gentle critiques will be given in a secure environment with feedback provided by other “travelers” as well. Everyone will have email access for any questions or challenges that come up during the “trip.”
Students who enroll in this class should have the following:
Art Skills
Solid drawing skills including an understanding of shapes, shading,

Testimonials from Students
Laure, I absolutely loved your Imaginary Trip to Paris class. I came to you without a working knowledge of watercolor, and in just two short months, you turned me into a watercolorist! I’m so happy, and can’t wait until your next class. I’m first in line!
You offer so much personal instruction, and the format of posting our assignments to a private blog worked so well. I made several new friends, and I always learned something from the other students. We all seemed to help each other! Thank you for bringing your Imaginary Trips to the blogosphere!
