Some things just make you happy because they exist and Hollyhocks are one of those things! These flowers come in a variety of colors, but I opted to work in an limited palette to help create harmony. If you look closely, you’ll see a good bit of gray ink in the artwork, but rather than being bold and obvious, it’s subtle and soft. That’s because I opted to use the gray ink found in Tombow Fude (or Fudenosuke) pen (fude rhymes with dude)—it’s gray on one end and black on the other!
A Fude pen makes it easy to capture a variety of lines quickly without having to switch pens for different line weights. We’ll also make use of the Tombow Dual Tip Markers for the lettering. In this class we’ll learn to use a Fude pen, how to vary line weights and then we’ll apply harmonious, nearly analogous colors to our hollyhocks!
Key ingredients to having a successful outcome in this class include having good watercolor paper, the Tombow Fude pen and tracing paper as they play an important roll in the creation of the hollyhocks!
Other important things to know:
Do I Have To Know How To Draw?
No, you do not. You will be provided with step-by-step instructions to create the design and the lettering will be provided for you to trace onto your paper.
Do I Need To Know How To Paint?
You do need some experience with watercolors, washes, etc. to successfully take this class, but beginners with adventurous and courageous attitudes are always most welcome!
Do I Have To Have Your Exact Supply List?
No, you don’t. I encourage you to use what you already have. Your results will vary from mine regardlesss of whether you’re using the exact same pigments as we all paint differently.
When Will Class Be Held?
Class will be held live and online on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. EDST and will last approximately two hours (but probably longer as I will try to answer as many questions as I can).
Can I Access The Class Later?
Yes! The class will be recorded and posted to TheImaginaryRealm.com. Once the class has been uploaded, you will receive an email to let you know where and how to access the video and handout.
How Long Will I Have The Materials?
You will have the class instructions handout (in pdf form) forever as it can be downloaded and you will have access to all the class videos for one year from September 23, 2021 or the date you sign up after September 23, 2021.
Can I Get A Refund For This Class?
Unfortunately, that’s not possible once access to the class materials has been given.
